You may have known me as the Executive Director for the American Jewelry Design Council or as the Business Manager for the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) and Metalsmith Magazine from 1980 through 1998. My connection to the metalsmithing community, however, runs far deeper: for fifteen years I was a university professor of jewelry and silversmithing, and I have been a member of SNAG since its very first conference. However, I never lost my love for the studio, nor have I forgotten our need to get our work in front of buyers, and each other. It is THIS need that has prompted me to create the Metal Arts Source Books™. They are the perfect combination of visual resource plus information resource.

Bob Mitchell Productions was the natural evolution of these ideas into the newer media format of the World Wide Web. As the Internet became more common, more and more designers and business came to recognize its growing importance as a window to their business success. The development of web sites which balance both the companies aesthetic and ability to communicate well with the public has become my watchword for success. My past computer consulting work with several Fortune 500 companies and numerous smaller companies in the 1980’s and 1990’s has made this transition an easy one. As Business Manager for SNAG, I had also written all of the office software for membership, subscription and fulfillment needs.
